Tzimmes

Tzimmes is a side dish that is eaten throughout the whole month of Tishrei, because of its sweetness, and because in Yiddish carrots are called meren which means more it signifies to multiply in all goof things.

Almost every home has a different version of tzimmes. Some make it with carrots and some with sweet potato. Here is one which is easy but takes some time.

 

Tzimmes

INGREDIENTS:

Carrots

Water

Honey

Sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS:

Peal carrots and slices round circles

Cover with water

Let it boil until soft (a few hours)

When water is boiling out add honey

Let the carrots caramelize

Add sesame seeds
